ESTIMATING APOGEE
With Homemade "Apogee Scopes"

RETURN HOME -

I've made two simple, but effective Apogee Scopes with not too much effort. The cardboard tube has crosshairs on both ends. The tube in mounted on a piece of plywood, which pivots on a second piece of plywood, which is mounted to a magnesium pole, which is anchored to the gound with a steel rebarr spike.

Viewing thru the tube, you can see the launcher 300 feet away, and Heather, who has another Inclinemeter, located another 300 feet away.

We start each launch with both our arms up, indicating that we are both ready. Note, that both tubes are in a horizonal position, looking at the rocket.

After the "ready" signal, we then start to view thru the tubes. Notice that I have the pull string in my right hand.

The rocket is traveling, and we both have the rocket in our scopes.
