Rocket Configuration Examples

This is a full page illustration of six different examples of configurations that can be made with 2 liter bottles.

Two Different Ways To Make "Double Rocket"

This "Double Rocket" configuration is my favorite size water rocket. It's fast, balanced, travels far, and easy to make. Here's an illustration of two ways of making the same basic rocket.

The Triple Chamber Rocket

This noisy rocket has three pressure chambers. Each pressure chambers has it's own water reservoir. Two plastic straws are used as overflow drains so the top two chambers will flow to the bottom chamber.

3 Chamber Rocket with 3 Nozzle Diameters
(uploaded 3/4/97)
The idea behind this water rocket design is to create a time delay for the release of some of pressurized water to increase rocket travel distance. There are three chambers of pressurized water that each have three different nozzle diameters. The outermost chamber has a nozzle diameter of .844 inch, the middle chamber nozzle is .535 inch, and the inside chamber (which holds the largest volume) has a nozzle of .400 inch.
Does it work?...don't know, it's so new, I haven't had a chance to make it yet. I'll let you know when the test has been done. I'll make two identical rockets, except for the reduced nozzle diameters & stepped size launch tube, and see if one performs better than the other.
