Adding a $ .17 "O" Ring & a groove to the Bigfoot Launcher's "Internal Launch Tube" makes it easier to use. In fact, you don't have to twist the outer trigger tube any more, if you don't want to!!
All Bigfoot Launchers built & shipped in 1998, and later, will come with internal launch tubes with "O" Rings.
Adding a internal launch tube equiped with "O" rings greatly simplifies & speeds up the use of a Bigfoot Launcher. All you have to do is slide the rocket over the launch tube. When it first engages the "O" ring, twist the rocket, about 1/2 turn, to help it compress and slide over the "O" ring. Now latch the trigger mechanism to grab above the neck flange. YOU NOW DON"T HAVE TO TWIST THE OUT TRIGGER TUBE (normally one turn) TO TIGHTEN THE SEAL, which draws the bottle neck down to the garden hose seal!!!
Here's how I pre-set the trigger. I set the out trigger tube to tighten like normal with the garden hose. Then unscrewed the out trigger tube ONE TURN and LEFT IT THERE!!. Works great at that setting.
This is a welcome feature for those that don't want to change the location of the PULL STRING between repetitive launchers. This is excellent if you have a line up of children wanting to take turns pulling the string. Before, without the "O" Ring, different sizings of the bottles caused the seal with the garden hose to occur at different locations, causing the trigger to be pointed at difference positions with different rockets. With a line of up children, I found it exra work and time consuming having to relocate the line of children between rockets. Now, with the "O" Ring, I can position the trigger and pull string anywhere I want.
Tightening the out trigger tube is now an option, which will give you a double rock tight seal on conventional rockets.
I will be announcing a soon to be released internal launch tube made with Sch 80 3/8" PVC pipe with an "O" Ring Seal made especially for VORTEX (extended neck) rockets. This is an exciting new adition to owners of Bigfoot Launchers.
Attention Bigfoot Launcher Customers, below is the configuration, which gives a good seal, yet a good slip too. If you don't want to make it yourself, look below and you will be able to order a new internal launch tube with this modification and extra "O" rings for spares. This modification will fit all Bigfoot Launchers sold since Feb 1996.

See the cut-away cross section picture above of the groove. The wall thickness on one side was .157 before and .081" after the groove, which is more that stock thinwall PVC. So, I think we're in good shape with plenty of wall strength. The schedule 80 is so thick, that it allows room for the groove.
Another common everyday source is Builder's Square, Waxman "O" Ring # 07-612, upc# 028905076128, for $ .29 each.
By the way, the industry number for a #12 "O" ring is #1-114.
